An analysis piece of the influence that media and society has in how weight and body image is perceived.

"When these kids become teenagers and young adults, and they gain weight, they are already conditioned to believe that their weight gain is wrong. They believe that them not being exceptionally skinny is a fault of their own, and somehow down values their self-worth. They believe that they have to make an effort to lose weight to be pretty. This affects everything: their self-worth, self-esteem, mental health, and even physical health at times and they develop a negative body image."

"I remember thinking once that I was the only person in India who had an eating disorder. I had no support system and no one with who I could be open and honest. I was at rock-bottom, hungry for literally anyone to just listen and understand...But I carry an anger that fuels a lot of my advocacy. Anger for my fifteen-year-old self, and how the world failed her. Anger at how wrong the entire ordeal was, and how I ended up with the shorter end of the stick."
